Welcome to Compass Playgroup
Compass Playgroup is located in the heart of Balerno, in the Dean Park Pre-School Center. Compass Playgroup provides childcare for children aged between 2-5 years. It offers a safe, happy and enriching environment where young children can gain immeasurable benefits of learning through play, based around the Scottish Executive Curriculum Framework. Compass Playgroup has been instrumental in the early years education of generations of local children, having served the community of Balerno for over 40 years.
Compass Playgroup is a registered Scottish charity. Along with the staff, the Playgroup Committee manages the running of the playgroup. Learn more about the team here. Compass Playgroup are members of the Scottish Pre-School Play Association and are regulated by the Care Inspectorate. In October 2018, we were awarded a “very good” for quality of care, support and environment by the Care Inspectorate.
The Aims of Compass Playgroup
Offer quality care and early years education, to pre-school aged children
Provide a happy, safe, child-centred, caring enviornment that is stimulating and challenging for the children
Encourage the emotional, social, physical, creative and intellectual development of each child
Give every child the oppportunity to develop their own interests and skills in the way most approporiate to them
Make the transition from home to playgroup, and playgroup to nursery, a positive and enjoyable experience
